Dyno-Tested Back-to-Back

On a bone-stock DE5 Integra Type S, stock tune, same day and same dyno, the only change was OEM downpipe vs SBX GESI catted downpipe.

The gain came from reduced backpressure, better exhaust flow, improved turbo efficiency, and better heat control — not from simply adding boost. The SBX pipe helped the car keep pulling where the OEM downpipe started to fall off.

In real-world back-to-back testing, we recorded a pre-catalyst backpressure drop from roughly 5 psi down to .25 psi— a measurable reduction in the exact place it matters most. Less backpressure means less pumping loss, a turbo that breathes easier, and power that carries cleaner all the way to redline instead of falling off up top.

SBX Performance FL5 / DE5 High-Flow Catted Downpipe

Built for the Honda Civic Type R FL5 and Acura Integra Type S DE5, this downpipe is designed to reduce post-turbo restriction, manage heat more effectively, and improve turbo efficiency where it matters most.

The SBX design uses a 4 inch off-turbo primary section directly off the turbo, transitions into a 4.5 inch GESI GEN2 Advanced G-Sport UHO catalyst (#85200, rated up to 850hp), then tapers to a 3 inch outlet to match the factory front pipe location cleanly.

$1,499 is the price. Not an inflated MSRP with a discount slapped on to look like a deal, and not a teaser rate that jumps after launch. It's what it costs to hand-build this pipe in the USA, one at a time — a real $700+ GESI GEN2 catalyst, titanium turbo studs in the box, and welds we'll stand next to anyone's. You're paying for the parts and the build, not marketing or a middleman. My margin on this is extremely small to keep the pricing at this point so no I cannot discount it.

If material or hardware costs move, the price moves with them — that's why it went up when we switched back to the 4" elbow — and we'll always tell you why. No games.

The turbo-to-downpipe connection sees extreme heat cycling and is one of the most difficult areas to service later. Premium titanium turbo studs improve corrosion resistance, future serviceability, and overall presentation compared with conventional plated hardware.

Every SBX downpipe ships install-ready with the lower JIS high-strength steel flange bolts and nuts, gasket, O2 extension, and OEM heat shield standoffs and bolts — plus Rampage Fab titanium turbo studs included as standard at the turbo flange. The factory OEM heat shield can be reinstalled. Choose Raw or Burnt titanium finish at the same price.

Outer layer: fragmentized fire-retardant volcanic rock, rated 1500°F direct heat / 1800°F radiant heat. Internally insulated with high-temperature calcium magnesium silicate wool, rated 1800°F direct heat / 2300°F peak heat.

Built with PTP Turbo Blankets — a form-fitting lava blanket that clamps on and off without shredding or unraveling like taped-on wrap. It limits the heat transferred from your downpipe into the engine bay while helping exhaust gases exit faster through reduced density: longer life for under-hood components, lower intake temps, and sharper throttle response. Unlike header wrap, it won't trap moisture and road salt against the stainless and rot the pipe from the outside.

  • Exhaust Wrap Notice: Using exhaust wrap on this downpipe voids all warranty coverage. Exhaust wrap can create a superheated moisture barrier between the wrap and the pipe, which can cause the material to break down.
  • Tune Notice: Pops and bangs, burble, flame, or aggressive crackle tunes void all warranty coverage. If catalyst failure or damage shows evidence of this type of tune, the warranty claim will be automatically denied.
