The S55 intake system for the BMW F80 M3 and F82 M4 is the result of extensive analysis and testing. The design is fully sealed with no gaps to ensure the lowest intake air temperatures, with the primary focus on keeping airflow as smooth as possible. Using the maximum space available, Infinity Design created the largest intake on the market, with air filter housings connecting directly to the OEM air feeds.

Both banks use large cross-sectional turbo inlet tubes with integrated MAFs and smooth expanding profiles. The expanding, large-volume inlet tube acts like a big velocity stack that accelerates airflow far more effectively than the short stack inside the OEM intake, giving far smoother low-rpm torque, vastly improved drivability and immediately sharper throttle response. The inlet tubes attach via stainless steel V-band clamps to the air filter housings, which mount directly to the OEM front air feeds.

High-Flow Air Filters

The system matches the factory intake for inlet temperatures while smoothing airflow and allowing more air into the turbos. Beyond looking the part, it increases available air and air speed into the turbos, helping them spool faster, filters efficiently for longer, keeps intake temperatures low and produces a sophisticated, race-car-like intake note under load.

Performance Testing

Dyno tests were performed under strict controlled conditions on a Dyno Dynamics machine, directly in line with the on-road experience. Average gains were +10–15 whp and +10 lb-ft, with an average peak of 15 whp @ 6,700 rpm and 12–15 whp from 5,800–7,500 rpm. The OEM system flows enough up to 4,000 rpm, after which power gradually increases to the limiter — equating to 12–16 flywheel hp from 5,800–7,500 rpm. The gains are realistic, with power increasing from 3,000 rpm onwards.
