Hybrid Racing K-Swap Electronics Package - 1996-1998 Honda Civic

Wiring is where K-swaps stall out. Not because it's impossible, but because sourcing the right harnesses and grounds from multiple places is tedious and easy to get wrong. This package puts the major wiring components in one box for a 96-98 EK, and every piece is chosen to work with the others.

96-98 Or 99-00? They're Different

Worth checking your year before ordering. Honda revised the EK's electrical architecture partway through the generation, which means the conversion harness for a 96-98 car is genuinely different from the one for a 99-00.

This package is for 1996 through 1998. If you've got a 99 or 00, there's a separate package for those cars. Same chassis to look at, different wiring underneath.

The Engine Harness

Our Tucked K-Swap Engine Harness is built around 2002-2004 RSX and K20A2 wiring, and it sits between a budget replacement and a full motorsports harness.

It uses AVSS thin-wall automotive wire built to JASO D611, with OEM Honda color and stripe patterns throughout. That detail matters more than it sounds. When you're troubleshooting at midnight, being able to pull up a factory service manual and trace exactly what you're holding is worth a great deal over a harness in generic colors.

The injector and VSS connections live on removable adapter harnesses, so if your injectors or transmission change later, you swap an adapter rather than cutting into the main loom. K24 crank and knock sensor connectors come in the box, and there are three spare circuits through unused C101 positions for whatever you add down the road.

Every harness is machine tested against the production pin-to-pin wiring map for incorrect connections, opens, and shorts before it ships.

The Conversion Harness Is Plug And Play

This is the piece that makes an EK swap manageable rather than a wiring project.

It connects your engine harness and ECU to the chassis wiring, and it retains full functionality of the factory instrument cluster. Built with connectors, terminals, and wire from the same supplier Honda uses, ordered in bulk from Japan.

There's a reason it's the most widely used conversion harness on the market. It installs intuitively and it makes a K-series feel like something Honda put in the car, rather than something obviously grafted in.

The provision for a wideband O2 sensor is built in, so when you fit one it plugs straight in rather than needing wiring work.

No core exchange required. You get a brand new harness rather than sending in parts of yours and waiting.

Don't Overlook The Ground Kit

Grounds are the least interesting part of an electrical system and among the most important. Without good ground connections there's nowhere for current to go, and the symptoms are maddening: faulty sensor readings, electronics failing early, and problems that come and go with no obvious cause.

On a swapped car that's worse, because you've already introduced enough variables without wondering whether a ground is at fault. The kit gives you proper length and proper connections rather than cutting and splicing to make something reach.

What You'll Still Need

Worth being clear so nothing stops you mid-build.

This package covers the wiring. It does not include an ECU or a wideband O2 sensor, so plan on sourcing both. The harness is wideband compatible with the provision already wired in, you just supply the sensor.

You'll also need a K-series ECU matching your engine. Worth resolving early, since a factory ECU in a swapped chassis has to get past the immobilizer before the engine will run.

Fitment

1996-1998 Honda Civic (EK)

For K20A and K20A2 engines with a matching ECU. Other K-series engines may work but could require changing sensors or sensor connectors.

Not for 1999-2000 EK Civics, which use different chassis wiring.
